Today I was pleasantly surprised when I saw in my news feed Google new Auto Draw and it is quite impressive it is a drawing program that isn't a drawing program... in fact, it's sort of like an Autocorrect for doodles. Which if you look at the first video below shit just got easier for the average non-artist.
It's not really the first of it's kind either, I mean it is more robust, but then there is this thing here that is crazy as well fromPix2Pix:
it's a bit horrifying but it's also a super easy way to start a drawing or mock something up, and it's just going to get crazier.
In this Ted Talk on AI, he states that the future of AI with design and art is going to become more automated and "grown". That the whole evolution of design will lean more towards only the best and most suitable integration of aesthetics and function that is wanted by humans, but jointly designed by man and machine (but mostly machine).
In some ways, this is super cool in other ways it's depressing because it sort of takes the joy out of being human and having the human touch. Like I love it when I see rough sketches, or there are some artists like Egon Schiele or Ashley Wood that their "rough" and "dirty" art is what gives it an appeal because it is so raw and has an emotion. I feel art by hand and from artists will always have a place, but I think when it comes to solving problems in design whether it be graphical or industrial, a corporate entity is going to go for the AI because it's easier, works longer hours, doesn't argue , faster, and will probably give optimal results.
